Remember When ….?

life_brings_tears,-87714 I thank my God for every fond memory of you– Philippians 1: 3

One of my most valuable family possessions consists of the various memories we’ve created and share together as the Werner family. When we are together, I enjoy hearing the phrase “remember when …” as memories are about remembering when. We all desire for our children to grow up having wonderful memories to look back on and as mom’s we get to be the conductor of making beautiful memories.

To glean a few ideas on creating memories join me at Mom Heart

Hey Moms, did you know we have an wonderful opportunity to be the memory makers for our family? What are some the memories your children will recall?

The Werner girls would say, “our family meal times and “high point/low point” game,” are some of their fondest memories along with family vacations and holiday traditions.

Not My Will but Yours, When He Knows Best

Wow! what a day.  Colossians 3:15  And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

My foot surgery was canceled today and rescheduled for tomorrow causing me to rethink my day.  I decided to get a badly needed hair touch up (hahaha) knowing I wouldn’t be able to make my Tuesday appointment due to the change of events. As  I was leaving the salon my doctors office called informing me the doctor had the flu plus an ear infection. Someone once said,  “If you can’t be thankful for what you receive, be thankful for what you escape.”

My surgery was being postpone till Tuesday 🙁  I asked if the doctor was doing surgery on Monday as it would work best since my wonderful in-laws drove in 2/26  to help me get my footing.  The doctor had a 4 hour surgery scheduled for Monday and couldn’t do another.    So my time was set up for Tuesday afternoon.  Two hours later they call again saying the Monday appointment canceled so they would be moving me to Monday.  Needless to say today has been a roller coaster ride of fluctuating emotions with me trying to stay positive and know all things work together for good.

Some things I can be thankful for. 1) Jon returns home tomorrow at 8pm allowing us to enjoy the weekend together 😉 with my in laws.   2) I have had plenty of opportunities today to pray, practice patiences, trust, extend compassion for my doctor and his office staff, as well as being grateful for all things. 3) There are a few events I can attend this weekend. 4) Jon will be with me on Monday when I have my surgery. 5) My in laws are here. 6) I am able to learning how to use the crutches; 7) more time do read, relax, and do misc. plus 8) I was able to plant these beautiful terrariums which makes me happy.

I like what T.D. Jakes said, “That thing that is NOT coming to you may seem good. But either the timing is wrong, or from His position He can see that the future of it is bleak. I have always believed that people who thank God only for delivering them from what happened are just scraping the surface of praise. The real praise comes when you start thanking Him for what could have happened but didn’t because of His swift grace!

I am humbled and thank you Lord for knowing what is best for me and when.

Happy Birthday Courtney

Happy birthday Courtney, I hope to one day be able to find the right words to express how much you mean to me.  Until that time I hope you know that having you as my daughter is a gift I cherish. I thank God for how He created you. Below are a few descriptive words that came to mind.

C – You are creative as you have so many talents.  You write music, sing, play various musical instruments (piano, violin, guitar) by ear, paint, write, etc.  It’s a joy to hear you sing and play the piano when you are home. You’ve recently created a blog to bring other creative minds together and showcase your works at Paint & Parcel One can also she your creatively at Confessions of an X Introvert.

O – As a child you were always obedient being quick to obey and cheerful to follow directions of those over you.  I’m sure this is why your employers value you. I’d also say you are an original one of a kind making you interesting and fun.

U – You have the special gift of truly understanding people as you listen and hear beyond mere words. As Albert Einstein said, “any fool can know.  The point is to understand.” You understand people and are also unbiased.

R – Finishing school two years earlier than your peers, moving to CA at 20, serving on staff for a campus ministry, etc… would qualify you as being responsible.

T – You learn from your mistakes as well as those of others 😉 making you not only smart but teachable.  “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” If you want to know something you will teach yourself or find someone to help.

N – You have a sensitive and caring demeanor allowing you to perceive the needs of others quickly making you a nurturer.  It’s no surprise why pouring love and life into others comes naturally for you.

E – You are such an encourager as you inspire, give hope, and confidence to those who know you. I feel you have grown as an encourager because you have had to endure many hardships in your own life giving you that sensitivity to cheer others on.

Y – You yearn to love Jesus and people better. You yearn for more wisdom, understanding, knowledge, etc.

You are a beautiful person not just outside, but inside too… it means a lot to me that you are my daughter and I will love you forever. A daughter like you is one of the greatest gifts in the world.
